Welcome to the official site for those who want to participate in the 2006 Nation's Parade. The parade is held on Veteran's Day, November 11, 2006, in New York City. Participating bands will enjoy a full day of events. The commemoration begins with the Eternal Light Ceremony on Saturday, November 11th, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. After the ceremonies, the parade will begin in the heart of Midtown Manhattan on Fifth Avenue and Broadway at 23rd Street, proceed up Fifth Avenue, past the reviewing stand in front of the New York Public Library on 42nd Street, ending on Fifth Aveunue in front of Central Park at 59th Street. Scheduled units from active duty and reserve military, NYPD and FDNY marching bands, along with USO floats, historical military vehicles and veterans groups and color guards from all over the country will join with your band to create an unforgettable parade. If your band is chosen, you will be invited to a post-parade event on the deck of the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid. There you can enjoy the world-class museum, subject to parade scheduling you may perform on deck if you desire, and meet members of the armed forces. We'll wrap up the evening with a gala dinner, awards ceremony (choose adjudication/competition or exhibition only), and DJ dance for all participating high school marching band members. As in past years, we are pleased to provide you with a full DVD recording of all events, a commemorative uniform patch, and a collector pin.
